Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time of year for fishing in Costa Rica?
Fishing is excellent year-round in Costa Rica. However, the peak offshore season for Marlin, Sailfish, and Tuna runs from May to November. Inshore fishing for Roosterfish and Snapper is great all year.
When is whale watching season in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has an extended whale watching season. Humpback whales from the Southern Hemisphere visit from July to November, while Northern Hemisphere humpbacks arrive from December to March. This gives us nearly 9 months of whale watching opportunities.
How many people can fit on your boats?
We have two boats: El Dorado (28ft, up to 6 passengers) ideal for fishing charters, and Marejada (35ft, up to 10 passengers) perfect for whale watching and Isla Tortuga tours.
Do I need to bring anything for the tours?
We provide all necessary equipment. We recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a light jacket, and a camera. For snorkeling tours, you may bring your own mask if you prefer.
What is your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour. For cancellations within 48 hours, a 50% fee applies. Full refunds are given for weather-related cancellations made by us.
Are the tours suitable for children?
Yes! Our whale watching and Isla Tortuga tours are family-friendly and suitable for all ages. For fishing tours, we recommend children aged 8 and older. Life jackets are provided for all passengers.
How do I get to Cabuya?
Cabuya is located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, about 7km south of Montezuma. You can reach us by car, shuttle, or ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera, then drive south along the coast.
Can I keep the fish I catch?
Absolutely! We practice catch-and-release for billfish (Marlin, Sailfish) to support conservation, but you are welcome to keep eating fish like Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, and Snapper. We will even clean and fillet your catch for you.
